Playing is your childs work. They do not push or pressure children to perform the more academic skills. Rather, they supply the environment and professional guidance, so when children are ready, they have the resources to grow to their greatest potential. The mission of Starbright Early Learning Center is to offer affordable, high quality care to young children and their families. Excellent teachers and a rich learning environment are the keys to every childs positive experience. By recognizing and reinforcing each childs unique strengths and abilities, teachers work to raise childrens self-esteem and thereby contribute to their growth in less developed areas. Starbright promotes creativity, self-discipline, self-worth, and a positive attitude in experiencing life.

What some perceive as mistakes or failures, they perceive as positive steps forward in the learning process. Above all, emphasis is placed on promoting emotional security and happiness for each child. In this full-day kindergarten, they have only sixteen children with one teacher. If your child is developmentally ready for a kindergarten program but does not meet district age requirements, you may want to consider this as an alternative. Parents who are working and want their children to have a high quality experience with the same teacher throughout the day will appreciate the full-day curriculum. Children engage in many activities emphasizing both creativity and problem solving. Hand-on learning takes place in math, language arts, social studies, science, and other learning centers.

Urban Sprouts Day School

November 24th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

Urban Sprouts Day School is a high quality preschool that provides holistic and transformative environment nurturing the whole child and protecting the wonder and magic of early childhood. Their curriculum is inspired by Waldorf early childhood education. A childs capacity for fantasy and imagination are intentionally encouraged and protected in a Waldorf methods preschool. This capacity is recognized, again, in the toys and play equipment, where their simple forms and lack of definition allow the childrens imagination to determine the use and fill in the details. Examples are the simple doll, the large play frames, the wooden crate or the colorful cloth which can be transformed into an endless variety of structures.

Outdoor playtime is scheduled every day and is alternated with the indoor activities in a very predictable weekly schedule. Children play outside even in rainy weather. Two classes will alternate the use of the outdoor space to promote the continuity of relationships in different setting. This assures that children are relaxed and engaged in the play. In play, children create the world anew each day, and try on every imaginable situation within it. They build houses and ships, rockets and fire engines. They explore life in homes and farms, forests and mountains, underwater and in outer space. All of this is initiated by the children, with occasional help from the teacher.

Your child’s educational journey has just begun. Successful first steps encourage a positive attitude toward learning and help build the confidence and skills they will need to succeed. The Curtis Kindergarten & Preschool staff is honored that you have chosen them as a partner in guiding those first steps. They provide a structured curriculum enriched by an atmosphere of Christian values and lots of love. To ensure they fulfill their responsibility to you and your child, they have mapped a course based on the following principles: All children come to school ready to learn. Learning should be an enjoyable experience for children. A preschool program that incorporates academic goals with social preparation is essential: To provide children with the fundamental skills and essential knowledge they need to become successful students in kindergarten, which includes skills such as reading, writing, mathematics, gross and fine motor skills.

In addition, help them become well adjusted, happy, and secure with their social life. It is their responsibility to serve their students, parents/guardians, and community in a courteous, safe, effective and efficient manner. School professionals should be given the opportunity to determine the individual needs of each child social, emotional, physical, and intellectual enabling them to make the most of all educational opportunities available in his/her school. Parents/guardians are the primary advocates for their children and as such, are an integral and essential part of the educational planning.
