December 31st, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

Each year South Shore Day Care Services enables over a thousand parents to work, knowing that their children are receiving the best possible care. All of the children attending their programs feel safe and nurtured, while being supported to explore and experiment in order to develop a sense of self worth and competence. Many parents choose their programs because of their commitment to diversity, including economic diversity, which makes them fairly unique among child care agencies. Families from every racial and ethnic background feel welcome in each of their centers and family day care homes. What makes South Shore Day Care Services special is the sense of family that their staff create in each one of their classrooms, centers, and family day care homes.

The strength of their agency is the strong positive relationships that staff develop with their children and parents. These relationships support their children to grow and thrive and begin to reach their developmental potential. By enabling thousands of parents to work, South Shore Day Care is an important contributor to the South Shore’s economy. Their commitment to their community is reflected in their well-established collaborative role in working with other agencies to improve services to preschool and school age children and their families.

Wyong Little Learners

December 23rd, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

They at Wyong Little Learners believe that they play an important role in meeting the needs of children, families as well as the local community. At their centre they want to provide a welcoming and supporting environment for both children and families that reflects who they all are and the diversity within their community. They believe that children learn from each other and that play is fundamental to their learning. Providing appropriate opportunities for children to play together and interact in small groups is greatly beneficial to childrens development. Stimulating environments that are set up to attract childrens attention whilst proving a range of developmental activities are best used through an integrated approach, where children are not seen to learn in isolation.

By developing childrens interests, children have the opportunity to be involved with meaningful learning experiences that they can relate to and build on their existing knowledge. Interactions are important and we believe that staff play an important role in facilitating discussions with children and extend their learning throughout the day. Spontaneous activities are valuable and enable children to extend their learning in positive ways. Children should see themselves as capable and active leaners. They believe in working towards partnerships with families to provide consistent and positive outcomes for their children. Encouraging involvement in the centre program and having open communication is encouraged throughout the centre.

Adventure Montessori

December 22nd, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

follows the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. They believe, as she did, that within each preschool child is the seed of unlimited potential, which will guide the child into adulthood. They emphasize individualized education as opposed to strict curricular education utilized within a daycare setting. Children are educated at their own rate of development. Their focus is to continually stimulate the child through an enriched environment with activities, materials, and extensions that promote experimentation at every developmental level. In essence, they offer the world on a silver platter knowing that the innate curiosity of children will promote independence, exploration, experimentation, and creativity.

Recent research shows that at least 80 percent of a child’s brain development occurs by the age of three. It suggests that as much as 30 percent of a youngster’s brain capacity can be lost without a nurturing early environment that encourages learning. Adventure Montessori believes that the most important years of a child’s education are not high school and college, but the preschool years which are within the first six years of a child’s life. Consequently, Adventure Montessori regards infant and early childcare education as the very foundation of everything that follows. Their goal is treat each student as an individual. This philosophy is in direct opposition to a traditional daycare setting. Respecting and responding to each student on an individual basis produces self-discipline and a life-long love of learning.
