Woodthorpe Day Nursery was opened in 1993 by the Proprietors, Mr and Mrs Turner. Fiona Hastings was the Principal for 10 years before handing over her position to Kerry Kerswill in 2003. Kerry is a qualified nursery nurse with over 15 years experience in childcare. She is currently studying a degree in Children and Young Peoples Services and is working towards gaining her Early Years Professional Status. Since opening in 2003 Woodthorpe Day Nursery has gained an excellent reputation for its high standards of staff, care and education. They are registered with Ofsted and are members of the National Day Nursery Association.
They aim to create an environment where they recognise, acknowledge and celebrate childrens differences, and where children are encouraged to value and respect others. They promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice, and ensure that every child is included and not disadvantaged because of ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background learning difficulties or disabilities, gender or ability. The nursery is open to, and welcomes all children and families. They aim to ensure that all who wish to work in their nursery have an equal chance to do so. Woodthorpe Day Nursery liase with parents and relevant agencies to support those with Special Needs.
